1. Avoid large meals
  2. Do not lie down within two hours of eating
  3. Foods to avoid:
    • Fatty & fried foods
    • Chocolate
    • Coffee (even decaffeinated) and tea, (herbal teas ok)
    • Tomato products
    • Cola drinks
    • Mints
  4. No tobacco nor alcohol
  5. No aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications (Tylenol is ok)
  6. Lose weight as directed by your physician
  7. Avoid tight-fitting clothing
  8. Consider using a “wedge” or bed blocks for the head of your bed

Ask your physician about medications for treatment of your heartburn.
