- Avoid large meals
- Do not lie down within two hours of eating
- Foods to avoid:
- Fatty & fried foods
- Chocolate
- Coffee (even decaffeinated) and tea, (herbal teas ok)
- Tomato products
- Cola drinks
- Mints
- No tobacco nor alcohol
- No aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications (Tylenol is ok)
- Lose weight as directed by your physician
- Avoid tight-fitting clothing
- Consider using a “wedge” or bed blocks for the head of your bed
Ask your physician about medications for treatment of your heartburn.
